French Market Bag

Typically, I pretty much have self control when it comes to shopping. I only buy what I need. That was until I spotted this beautiful cotton yarn by Yarnbee at Hobby Lobby. I fell for the “I will make something with this” excuse to justify my purchase!

Well, it wasn’t really a bad excuse! Recently, I’ve fallen in love with low waste living. This movement to be creative with the intention of saving our beautiful planet is incredible. When I think about how my careless actions can destroy the homes of our wildlife gives me discernment. I believe the Holy Spirit has been dealing with me on reducing wasteful living and use my creativity to support the cause of zero waste living!

So, I decided to use this beautiful yarn to crochet a colorful French Market bag. The colors are so much fun!

I hope to make many of these available for sale in the future! This bag was very therapeutic to make and watching the colors transition was actually exciting!

Mimi Bean

My very best friend besides my husband is my “dog-ter”, Mimi!

My husband prompted me with a brilliant request; crochet an amigurumi Mimi!

The process was so tedious and messy!

But the results were worth it!

Her stance looks funny, but that’s because that is really how she sits! She often sits on one side of her hip and stretches out the other leg. I have always found this posture to be so cute!

I’m so grateful to be able to capture a moment of this little stinker using yarn! ๐Ÿงถ

Green Love

Oh my goodness, it’s March! I become excited every time it’s March because it means that Spring is near.

The past couple of weeks I had a project that involves green yarn. This gave me green fever! I used to be obsessed with green when I was a teenager. This color was my wardrobe staple at the time! I ended up purchasing a thrifted LL Bean cardigan in this color online because I truly had missed wearing green!

What was the project that prompted me to purchase a green cardigan? Hal Jordan; The Green Lantern!

I was kind of nervous crocheting The Green Lantern because I wasn’t quite sure what to do, especially with the hair. But I always take a leap of faith, crocheting each stitch at a time and go with what my instincts tell me. It works every time!

Quiet Spirit

It’s taken many years of walking and obeying the Lord, yoga, meditation, prayer, and simplifying every aspect of my life to truly embrace my inner self and achieving a quiet spirit. In fact, I still am a work in progress, but I have come a long way!

While this does please God, I believe that He wants us to achieve this for ourselves and for those around us.

Why hold onto anger, anxiety, stress, and worry when we can achieve peace of mind and help those around us?

Even in the tangible sense, why hold onto clutter when we can live in peace and simplicity and free ourselves from maintaining and drowning in stuff?!

Make an effort to simplify every aspect of your life. You can start small with cleaning out that junk drawer and eliminating social media at night. Every small effort will make a difference in your overall health so that you can be your best and help others!

Lip Scrub DIY

This dry winter weather and the dryness caused by heaters have resulted with my lips being dry and flaky.

I’ve looked around at purchasing a lip scrub but was not a fan of the prices! This inspired me to learn how to make my own. Why purchase something when you can make your own?!

This Sugar Lip Scrub only contains three ingredients:

  • One part brown sugar
  • One part coconut oil
  • Quarter part honey

In a double boiler, I warmed the coconut oil until it liquified.

Once liquified, I poured it into a bowl and added the brown sugar and honey. Let the mixing begin!

After mixing, I placed the bowl in the refrigerator to allow the coconut oil to harden. This takes about 10 minutes at most!

Then I took the bowl out and mixed again. After I reached the consistency that I liked, I placed into my container.

Try to be creative with your container. I recycled an old tea tin as my container! This has allowed me to save money and avoid waste.

I love the results! When I apply the scrub on at night (this is now a new night ritual), I massage my lips to exfoliate and lightly pat the sugar away with a towel. You don’t want to fully wipe away because the coconut oil and honey are a natural lip balm!

I hope this inspires you to make your own lips scrub!
